Abbotsford Arbour Day

abbotsford arbour day

On Friday, May 10th nine Lafarge employees volunteered with over 100 other volunteers at Abbotsford Arbour Day.

Arbour Day is an annual event that is hosted by the City of Abbotsford at Mill Lake Park. This event is a celebration of trees and the natural environment, in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant and care for trees. The focus is on environmental stewardship, protecting natural habitat and acting responsibly in our parks and green spaces.

Over thirteen hundred elementary school students and their parents congregated at Mill Lake with over 100 volunteers, including our Lafarge employees, to learn how to plant seedlings, have guided trail tours and participate in other interactive environmental activities.

Special thanks to our employees for volunteering for this event and taking part in our first Lafarge “Volunteers At Work” event.

Lafarge Abbotsford Gravel Pit Reclamation

Lafarge Canada Inc. has owned and operated a 30 acre sand and gravel reserve operating under Abbotsford Gravel Sales, located on Clearbrook Road in Abbotsford.

By 2006, the gravel reserves were depleted from this location. At the time there were limited legal clean fill locations available.

Lafarge identified this need and worked with the City of Abbotsford to create a legal permitted fill site.
